September 18, 2008
Dear Partners and Industry Leaders,
Please join me and my colleagues at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of the Treasury on October 7th and 8th for the Summit on Housing: Partnering for Responsible Policy.
We believe that addressing the critical issues of the Nation’s housing market will take partnerships across federal, state, and local governments and across the private, non-profit and foundation sectors. Our purpose for the summit is to bring together the thought leaders of our country to strengthen existing and create new partnerships for the path forward.
Our goals for the summit are threefold:
- Present the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s current and developing policies and programs, including new programs introduced by the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 and the Neighborhood Stabilization grant allocations;
- Share state and local policies and programs that are succeeding in foreclosure prevention and public-private partnerships; and
- Offer an open forum for discussion of the above.
The summit will bring together representatives from government agencies at the federal, state and local level, non-profit organizations, foundations and the banking and housing industries to share and learn best practices for addressing both urgent and long term housing issues.
We have limited capacity, so please sign up as soon as possible.
I look forward to welcoming you on October 7th.
Sincerely,
Steve Preston
Secretary
