Track 1: Interventions that Work!
Multi-purpose Room
A panel presentation on evidence-based interventions that currently work in underserved populations around the clinical areas of diabetes self management and amputation resulting in improved clinical outcomes.
Track 2: Provider, Researcher and Community Sensitivity
Multipurpose Room A panel presentation that emphasizes accurate and effective communication between beneficiaries, providers, researchers and communities in order to ensure complete accurate, impartial and confidential communications to reduce omission of vital information, misdiagnoses, inappropriate treatment and lack of compliance through the assessment of training and competency of individuals who deliver such services.
Track 3: Discussion on MIPPA Section 185
The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (H.R. 6331) section 185, directs the secretary to study and report to Congress on effective approaches for ongoing data collection, measurement, and evaluation of disparities in health care services and performance by race, ethnicity and gender. The requirements include the implementation of effective approaches to measure health care disparities and report to Congress. This breakout session will increase the knowledge of the current provision, highlight the general plan of approach for the MIPPA sect. 185 provision and take questions on operational protocol for the plan.
