Customer Solutions

Training
Members of HCDI’s training team just completed the first of a series of half-day training sessions in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The training team provided engaging, interactive sessions filled with real-life scenarios, portraying models of customer service, telephone skills, conflict resolution, and other important interpersonal skills required to ensure customers receive excellent service.

Conference Planning

HCDI provided comprehensive conference management services for the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Federal/State Partnership Conference.  This conference was attended by more than 300 federal, state and local representatives.  For this event, HCDI provided all of the logistical arrangements, including venue selection and contract negotiations, website development, food/beverage planning, electronic registration, speaker travel logistics, conference material development, audio/visual coordination, on-site management, and post conference summary.  In addition, HCDI arranged the Green Room and coordinated with hotel security for DHHHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Research and Evaluation

HCDI coordinated the implementation of data collecting and reporting for quality measures at two hospices, including a web-based reporting application that allowed users to view trends over time via tables and graphs.

HCDI designed and conducted a Verification and Validation (V&V) study to examine the accuracy of quality metric data. Statistical random sampling methods were employed which met the needs of all stakeholders.

HCDI conducted a mixed-method (qualitative and quantitative) analysis of recommendations from the NIH Summit: The Science of Eliminating Health Disparities organized by the NIH National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities. HCDI also analyzed and prepared a comprehensive report of the conference proceedings.

HCDI’s dynamic team just completed several focus groups for the design and layout of an upcoming state park. After organizing participants, HCDI presented discussion topics for Maryland residents to gain their feedback on expectations for the state park. Participants included educators, parents, and teens. HCDI and its partners, the Maryland Tourism Office and prestigious architectural firms, are excited to see the development of the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park.

Community Outreach

HCDI is traveling nationwide! From Arizona to Puerto Rico, HCDI’s Worksite Lactation Project has visited more than 20 states, especially in underserved communities, to meet and train health care professionals on the importance of breastfeeding on worksites. Many of the visits were centered on access to minority groups, such as Hispanics/Latinos and American Indian reservations.
